Fighting food insecurity through a long-standing partnership with Moisson food banks
For several years now, the casinos have been working with Moisson food banks across Québec in their fight against food insecurity—a cause they both deeply care about. Through this partnership, the casinos have given employees opportunities to positively impact their communities and take part in volunteer and community service activities.
Some of these activities include food drives, fundraisers, and an annual volunteer day for casino and head office employees. In the fall of 2018, over 220 employees spent time sorting foodstuffs at the Moisson warehouse, took part in the Guignolée des médias, cooked meals, and organized food drives at local grocery stores. Through these activities, employees helped collect close to 15,000 kg of foodstuffs and raise over $5,000.
An efficient composting program
The Casino de Mont-Tremblant has put in place a composting program to divert some two metric tons of organic matter from landfill sites.
Composted matter, essentially from the Altitude Restaurant, employee cafeteria and banquet hall kitchens, is transformed into humus, which is a natural support medium for plant growth that is made of earth enriched by decomposed matter.
Actions integrated in an overall approach to sustainable development
Throughout Loto-Québec and its subsidiaries, sustainable development is supported by the responsible management of games of chance, taking into account economic, social and environmental aspects in order to maximize our contribution to the community.
Our commitment leads us to analyze the consequences of our activities in order to, in as much as possible, amplify their positive effects and mitigate negative consequences.

A generous Holiday donation
The Holiday season is made for sharing and generosity, and Casino de Mont-Tremblant employees certainly do their part in that regard. Following activities organized over the previous weeks, the Casino made a cash donation to Moisson Laurentides. With the donation, 500 kilos of peanut butter were purchased and given to very appreciative families in need.
Casino de Mont-Tremblant employees make going back to school easier
For the sixth consecutive year, Casino de Mont-Tremblant employees provided support for the community by filling 25 backpacks with school supplies for primary school kids. The bags were delivered to Parents Uniques des Laurentides, an organization in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts dedicated to helping single-parent families.
This activity was organized as part of Loto-Québec’s corporate volunteer program. The program provides employees with opportunities to contribute in a positive way by taking part in volunteer activities or becoming involved in the community.
An Employee Volunteer Day to Restock Food Bank Shelves
More than 90 Casino du Lac-Leamy and Casino de Mont-Tremblant employees got together last October to participate in the Société des casinos du Québec’s (SCQ) annual volunteer day. This activity enabled Moisson Outaouais and Moisson Laurentides to restock their shelves with non-perishable food items.
A total of 5,350 kg of non-perishable foods and $4,248 were collected in 12 grocery stores in both regions.
This volunteer day is one of the activities organized by the 4 casinos 4 Moisson partnership and highlights the SCQ’s social commitment to a cause that affects many families: the fight against food insecurity. The activity is deployed as part of Loto-Québec’s corporate volunteerism program to provide employees with opportunities to make a positive contribution by taking part in volunteer activities or getting involved in the community.
Volunteering at sports events
Mont-Tremblant is an acknowledged host of all kinds of sports events, such as the August, Mont-Tremblant Half-Marathon and Ironman games. Groups of Casino de Mont-Tremblant volunteers help out at the major events either individually or as families by providing refreshments and information to participants, etc.
These kinds of activities make a contribution to the region’s vitality by enabling links to grow within the community and by providing support for energizing events.
